Artist's Comments

"This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
Not with a bang but a whimper."
-T.S. Eliot. (The Hollow Men.)

The original concept of the painting was focused on the anti-atom bomb usage during World War II for Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It always kind of seemed to me that it was a more violent solution then necessary. Kind of like popping a balloon with a hand gun.

I'm thinking now that it is more about crude destruction in general. Or about how destruction affects the innocent. Not sure if this is so much "macabre and horror" because the art is a bit cutesy-anime like...But yet it suggests a violent event. Meh.

It is very sad and very pretty. I like how it looks... textured. I can imagine how it would feel to touch the painting. Heh, does that make sense? Of course, I love the title and poem. I didn't notice the gun at first... but your explanation of things fits well.

Is that blood on her clothing?

T.S. Eliot for the win. I must say, to me it's a rather creepy picture. An interesting and controversial topic to design it on too. :D
